Coral Lipstick on the Go: MAC VEGAS VOLT (review)

I have always told my beauty junkie friends that if there is one thing I could not control myself from shopping, that would be lipstick. Yes, I am such a huge lippie kind of girl. Take everything away from me, the eyeshadow palettes, blushes, pencil liners, etc… etc… but not my LIPSTICKS hee hee. However, no matter how many lipstick I own, I always end up having a favorite lippie for an entire season and this my friends is my current Spring/Summer Lipstick Fave. Now, here’s a short review of my current go-to Coral Lipstick, MAC VEGAS VOLT.

vegasvolt
I am unable to capture in photo the exact color of this lipstick when applied on my lips. But you can refer to Temptalia’s review of this Lipstick because her photos are the exact same shade of this lipstick when applied. I am just glad that I did not purchase MAC Ravishing because MAC Vegas Volt when applied by a single coat gives you a MAC Ravishing shade, peachy but not too orange. While with 2 coats gives you the perfect coral shade, but not as orangey as MAC Morange. For my NC20-NC25 complexion, this is the perfect Coral lipstick this Spring/Summer.

PROS:

  • Long-wearing.
  • Opaque color.
  • Not-drying.

CONS:

  • NONE, but probably quite expensive for some.

VANITY.KIT’s Rating: A+
Value: ✿ (4 out of 5)
Ease of Use: ✿ (5 out of 5)
Packaging: ✿ (5 out of 5)

VERDICT:

xoxo heart smilie

Organizing Your Brushes 101.

Here’s another old entry (a repost, if you may call it) you could include in your Spring cleaning to-do-list. That is, if Spring decides to show up hee hee. Yes, we had some light snow last night and dear husbo could not stop humming his Christmas songs with lyre. Yay and Nay!

I do not want to whine about the weather so —> Moving on.

I bring to you Organizing your Brushes 101 in the most simplest way possible.

I got this brush-organizing-inspiration from Angie and she got it from Enkore. I say, it’s a genius idea. I used to keep my brushes in this foldable brush container. It was something I find reliable when I was still doing make-up professionally because I can easily stack up my brushes while on gigs.  But then, when you start applying your own make-up in your very own dresser, this foldable thing becomes messy and not accessible.

Only Half of the Brushes...

So I watched this video of Enkore as suggested by Angie.

And here is my version:

inspired by enkore and angie. finally had the time to do it.siksikan. pwede na.

VASE: $.50, thrift store
VASE FILLERS:$5.00, Michael’s.

Some brushes did not fit in the vase, especially the brushes with chubby handles. But, this will do for now. What do you think of it? :)

EDITED: This entry was written way back in 2008. Since I have been minimizing and simplifying my stuff, this brush organizer is no longer applicable to me as I have only kept a few brushes. I will try to blog about that in the next entry.

My Thoughts on Cosmetic Surgery

When I was younger, my brothers would often tease me on how pert and tiny my nose is. For the record, my nose is my least favorite part of my face. I am not blessed with a symmetric nose but it’s not flat or round or ugly too, at least in my opinion. I guess God make it symmetric enough to match with the other parts of my face. It is small and very pretty err pert. My mom would often kid me that I undergo a nose job when I am much older to decide for myself. But I know she was just teasing me as she is not the type who would consult to a cosmetic surgeon for enhancing her beauty with procedures such as botox montreal and facelift montreal. I detest that thought too. I don’t know why, but I am seriously against surgical ways on improving one self. [...]

the etymology of SEPHORA.

sephoraI got this etymology of Sephora from their Twitter official page. Twitter is such a good medium to exchange ideas, promote products and services such as christmas lights white wire and get news and information on random stuff.  Isn’t it amazing. Anyhow, just thought you’d be interested with this:

The etymology of Sephora:

Sephos (Greek for beauty) + Zipphora (wife of Moses known for her beauty) = Sephora

2012 Purging Goal, ACHIEVED!

Finally, Spring has arrived.
We have been sporting quite a warm and lovely weather since Thursday of last week. I took a lot of photos on all of the places we visited casually last weekend. When we got out of the house last Saturday, we just initially planned on running our usual weekend errands, but we took the nice weather as a sign to not waste our weekend. Hence, our happy feet strolled, explored and got tired!

As for my annual Spring cleaning, I am 100% done with my closet. I am so glad that I did not bit the bullet and bought something from these beautiful collection of fur jackets for sale even if they were on huge clearance, as there were no more space in our storage area. I just need to work on the husbo’s closet/work area and dear son’s very cluttered room which I think will take me weeks to finish.

Oh, I forgot that this is actually a beauty blog so have I done purging my make-up? It actually happened last quarter of 2012. My One Word for 2012 was PURGE or SIMPLIFY and I was so good at committing to my self-imposed-purse-shopping-ban. With make-up, I have been trying to control myself and would actually practice Tightwad’s 30-day habit which you have to wait for 30 days to purchase something. From 10 layers of make-up and beauty products, I was able to purge them to this and some other skincare products in my bathroom’s vanity. Although, there are a few addition to this since I took this picture around November of last year, I am still sticking up with my goal of not adding anymore new items just replenishing my staples.
PURGED 2012 achieved! From 12 layers to 1, everything else will be brought by mommy to Manila. #QualityOverQuantity #Minimalist #Staples #MustHaves
