My Top Shelf : Skincare + Hair Regimen

Finally, I have established a Skincare Routine and Hair Regimen that I have been consistently doing/using for more than a couple of years now (some of these products I have used for over 4 years maybe and counting…), hence, this deserves a TopShelf entry inspired by my favorite beauty blog, IntoTheGloss.

As you see, I have had no blog updates for almost 2 months now and it would probably be a common practice here as I have been extremely busy with life that left me with little time to blog. But I assure you that when I do find time to blog, it will be worthy of your bloghopping time ;-) .

Moving on.
I have searched high and low, tried too many beauty products in the past, thus I could honestly say, I would be sticking with these beauty products for many more years as I have seen major improvements in my skin and without a hint of reactions no matter the season. While others may say that it is advisable to change your beauty products every season or every couple of years, I am one of those who believe in the old adage, once you found THE one, stick to it.

MY AM/PM ROUTINE:

In the morning, I wash my face with Olay Total Effects Revitalizing Foaming Cleanser, then I apply my ultimate favorite Lancôme Genefique Youth Activating Serum and layer it up with my moisturizer that comes with SPF30, Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF30. If I have to be under the sun for a longer period of time, say a beach, of course I apply a heavier sunblock which deserves a separate post. Then on days, I pretty much want to glam up, I apply a primer but all make-up-related products will have to be on a separate entry. This entry covers just my basic skincare and hair routine.

At night, I wash my face with Shu Uemura’s Anti/Oxi Skin Refining Cleansing Oil. It takes off my light make-up for the day. Then I apply Lancôme Genefique Eye Light Pearl serum for my eyes followed by Lancôme Genefique Youth Activating Serum. Lastly, I dab my face with Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil.

MUST-HAVES:

From time to time, I scrub my face with these 2 products which I have been alternately using, Clinique 7-Day Scrub Rinse Off Cream and Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. Both are very gentle and can be used everyday. On days, I wear heavy make-up, I use Bioderma Créaline/Sensibio H20/Cleansing Water to take them off, which by the way is a favorite of French women and a lot of professional Make-up artists. I made an extensive review about this product HERE. Since I do everything D-I-Y as facial services can be pretty expensive from where I am, I invested on a Clarisonic Mia Facial Sonic Cleansing brush which I absolutely love! I also buy those easy to use and very affordable Korean/Japanese facial masks whenever I see them in our neighborhood Asian store. On colder seasons, I double up my moisturizers at night and these 2 are my evening moisturizers on Winter: Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief and Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream. Again, I like having back-ups/standbys so both of these moisturizers I have used alternately along with my Josie Maran Argan Oil.

ODE TO DOVE:

I am a Dove girl since I turned 12. I remember developing some chicken skin and my mom brought me to a Dermatologist to have them checked, Dove was recommended and I never changed soap eversince. My 9-year-old son uses the white Dove and even my dear hubby has started using Dove+ Men Care after many years of being loyal to his Safeguard soap hee hee. I only use these 2 Dove scents, the white soap with moisturizing cream and the green cool moisture hydrating beauty bar with cucumber and green tea extract.

BODY BUTTER/OIL/LOTIONS/SCRUBS:
image

I am a huge Victoria’s Secret Beauty Products fan, hello Secret Rewards and Angel Card ;-) . My Favorite scents include: Secret Charm and Sheer love, I usually buy their body butters and body mists. As for their PINK brand, I go for Fun&Fearless and Fresh&Clean Luminous Body Butter. They also work as my perfume/cologne but on days, I want to wear a real perfume, I just use Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with ACTIVE NATURALS® Colloidal Oatmeal which is totally unscented and would not counteract with my perfume of choice. I am picky with the lotion and body butter I use as my skin is very sensitive. As for days when I feel my skin needs a little more moisturizing, I shower with L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. Then, exfoliate my body with these body scrubs from again, Victoria’s Secret, Sheer Love Smoothing Sugar Body Scrub and Fresh&Clean 2in1 Body Wash&Scrub. Oh, I swear by the benefits of Dry Brushing too ;-) .

HAIR PRODUCTS:

Looking at all the products I have posted, you might think I am a super-high-maintenance girl but really I’m not hahahaha! You see, I do everything DIY, (emphasis on that). I rarely indulge on a salon in fact, I never visited a salon in the past couple of years. I cut my own hair, I dye my own hair, I do my own facials and I even do my own nails. So I make sure to invest on these products because I don’t spend much on salons and spas.

Anyway, my hair is naturally curly. I used to have a freezy and hard-to-manage hair that I have succumbed to hair straightening when I was younger but it brought me nothing but damage to my hair. So I learned to love and embrace what God has given me and just manage how to tame my curls with various hair products instead of damaging and destroying them with chemicals.

The photo is a little outdated as I have not been using the Citre Shine Curl Booster (in orange) as it has been discontinued. I have 3 different sets of Hair Shampoos and Conditioners which I alternately use: John Freida Root Awakening, Clairol Herbal Essences Hello Hydration and Clairol Herbal Essences Totally Twisted. I never blow dry nor iron my hair and curls, immediately after washing, I apply Tigi Bedhead Small Talk on damp hair then it would hold my curls. Thanks to my stylist back in Manila for recommending this product, this has been the major reason why I learned to love my curls because it can actually be tamed even on the most humid temperature. On weekends, I try to do some sort-of-hotoil-treatment at home with the help of Kerastase Nutritive Masquintense Hair Thick Mask treatment. It is super easy to use. Then twice a year, I dye my hair with Loreal Excellence non-drip Creme in Light Chestnut Brown.

Now here are my nice-to-haves products. I love DOVE’s dry shampoo which I always bring when I travel. I always keep Eau Thermale Avène Thermal Spring Water on hot, humid days and when we go to the beach. From time to time, I indulge on Eau Thermale Avène Cleanance Purifying Mask.

There you have it folks, I would love to hear and read about your beauty regimen too. Drop me a comment, will you?

xoxo heart smilie

For now, I’m off to check this eldermark point of care software.

Looking Cool in Hot Weather

Heat and humidity can make even the coolest of cool people break out in a steady sweat marathon. While the weather gets under everyone’s skin, that is still no excuse for one to scrimp on style – there are always suitable sartorial solutions for the savvy dresser who wants to strike a mean balance between comfort and style in the heat.

Here’s a tip – put on loose-fitting clothes made with fabric types that allow your body to breathe, providing you a brief respite in our tropical country. Clothes in cotton are one of your best weapons against the unyielding weather and the stretchy material gives you the freedom of movement.

These tops not only keep you cool and breezy, they also have an extra slimming effect. You can go for a muted palette for a dressier occasion or colourful stripes for the casual look, whichever suits your personality better.

Do also try these jumpsuits from Zalora in bright, bold colours that allow you to make a statement with minimal effort. Pair them with a pair of flats for a casual picnic date or peep-toe heels to give you an added air of sophistication. The jumpsuit is a versatile piece and definitely a must-have in your wardrobe to get through this hot summer.
