Oscars 2011 Make-Up Trend: My Top 5.

March 7th, 2011

Thanks to Temptalia.com for compiling some of the best faces of Oscar 2011. You can head out to her site to check out the rest while I share my top 5 and what make-up they used.

#5. Michelle Williamsmichellewilliams001

“Michelle’s skin is so fresh and beautiful. I applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup in B10, which allows her skin to shine though the makeup, creating a fresh look. I set the makeup with CHANEL Natural Finished Press Pressed Powder in Translucent 1. For eyes, we went for a light, ethereal smoky look mixing the shades in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes. I used the silvery shade as a base, and then used the pewter shade, taking it from the lash line up into the crease, adding shape to the eye. I then smudged the same shade in the lower lash line. I used the black shade, blended into the pewter, as a liner. I applied a few individual lashes in the center, and a lot of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir on the top and bottom. I used the CHANEL Precision Brow Definer in Blond Claire to define the brow. To create a glowing pink cheek, I applied CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Pink Tweed. I mixed her lip colour, CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rose Dentelle, with a bit of the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, which creates the effect of the lips blending into the face.”

#2. Anne Hathawayannehathaway001

“Anne wore a red Valentino Couture archive dress on the red carpet. The look was centered around a thin black lined eye with a defined socket and a deep rose lip stain. For a base, I used CHANEL Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup in Limpide, which I used throughout the show. For concelear, I used Kanebo Brush Type Concealer in CB 1 Light. To create a fresh glow on her cheeks, I used CHANEL Powder Blush in Fresque, and defined cheek bones with Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium. I created a black line created with Bobbi Brown longwear gel liner in Black Ink. The eye socket was defined with Illamasqua Powder Eye Shadow in Truth, and I applied CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. On her lips, I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rivoli, and lightly powdered over her mouth for a matte effect. In between changes I used By Terry Rose Salve to remove lip colors and keep lips fresh.”

#1. Halle Berryhalleberry001

“We played up her eyes with warm browns instead of blacks, keeping them shimmery and soft edged while defining them by smoking them up and lining the inner eye. I used Revlon Luxurious Smoky Eye Pencil in Brown Smoky, and Revlon Custom Eyes Mascara in Black. To balance out the smoky eye but to still keep her look healthy and fresh, I used peaches that are soft enough yet with enough color. I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Horizon on her cheeks, a warm glowing peach. I lined her lips with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Peche, a peach tone that has just enough brightness and definition, and applied CHANEL Glossimer in Petit Peche. Her base was a mixture of CHANEL Mat Lumiere Matte Fluid Makeup shades – Honey, Walnut and Chestnut.“

beauty secrets from the belle

March 1st, 2009

840604lSince I have been slacking off on beauty posts, here’s  a little something to compensate my broken promises to the meager number of readers of this blog :) .

I find Catherine Zeta Jones gorgeous but not the best face in Hollywood but boy oh boy, her skin and hair are really luscious! You know it’s oh-so-naturally taken care of.

Here are some of her natural beauty regimen which she shared HERE:

‘I rub a mixture of honey and salt all over my body to moisturise and exfoliate,’ she says.

‘You wash it off and your skin is gorgeous. Also, I love to eat an apple after a meal, just to cleanse my teeth – they always look polished afterwards.’

If there aren’t any apples in the fruit bowl, a strawberry will suffice.

‘The juice or pulp of strawberries contains malic acid which serves as an astringent and can lighten surface stains,’ she explains. ‘ Pineapples work the same way.’

‘I do condition my hair with honey and beer.

Dang where is the Em who used to be really vain and would spend weekends resting and catching up with some natural beauty regimen? Yes I used to be like that before and now I barely have time to do my weekly facial mask. Some of my proven natural beauty regimen includes:

  • Coconut oil for the hair/hot-oil version
  • Bathe with milk, fresh milk, at least 2x a month :)
  • Petroleum Jelly loaded feet with socks on for that soft heels while at night’s sleep
  • when washing face, start with lukewarm, then hot and end with very cold, almost chilly water. (for the pores)
  • brush your nails with lemon or anything citrusy

That would be all for now, off to check out these ceiling fans :) .

As soon as I saw this photo, I thought of Dzoi aka Joy aka Katie. This is for you hee.

Back in Dawson’s Creek:

Now, I am beginning to really love her style.

make-up does magic! (and a little photoshop)

February 28th, 2009

I was browsing Bryanboy’s blog and found this! Oh Gosh, I did not recognize Claudine Barretto! I thought it was the other model (forgot her name) but then again why would she be hugging Gretchen Barretto in that way. It dawned on me that she was indeed Claudine B. after reading the caption!

To anyone who has a copy of this magazine please let me know who their make-up artist/s were or was. I bet, it’s either Patrick Rosas or Juan Sarte or both of them. Grabe! Claudine transformed into a fair lady after all these years.

The make-up colors are so spring and summerish!  I love Claudine’s nailpolish color!

the New Chanel Face

February 28th, 2009

Hello World. Yes, vanitykit is still alive hahah! I am not ready with my make-up and grooming posts just yet but this news got me all thrilled. I had been asked several times if there’s one female celebrity whom I want to put make-up on in Hollywood who would that be? I have 2 answers: Nicole Kidman (i just can’t resist her oh so white and botox-loaded skin) and Emma Watson of Harry Potter! You know, Hermione Granger always fascinates me with her very classic fashion style and her classic beauty is just hard to miss. She barely wears make-up! Now, she is the new face of Chanel (at age 18!!!) as the brand say bye bye to Keira Knightley. Here’s a scoop from News.Com.Au:

AS Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, she is used to dealing with revolting potions.

But now Emma Watson is to be associated with a far more enchanting concoction as the new face of the Chanel fragrance Coco Mademoiselle.

The 18-year-old has signed a two-year contract worth $6 million with the French fashion house.

Watson, who became a household name in the films based on J.K. Rowling’s books, has signed up with leading model agency Storm, which is thought to have secured her first major campaign.

It is believed she will replace Keira Knightley, 23, whose contract with Coco Mademoiselle ends this summer.

Sources said Chanel is creating a new role for Knightley who, in her latest ad, poses provocatively with just a bowler hat.

A source said Watson’s appointment would be announced next month.
